Nordic Battery Startup Meet

DEAR Batteristas! We’re delighted to welcome you to the 1st ever Nordic Battery Startup Meet, a mini-conference bringing together some of the most exciting startups and SMEs on the (extended) Nordic scene! ðŸ”‹

For the last three years, West Coast Battery Forum (WCBF) has been arranging meetups for the people working in battery R&D along the Swedish West Coast. We’re a non-profit with a mission to promote networking and to serve as a platform of knowledge transfer and learning within the local battery community. However, once in a while an episode of hubris strikes and we imagine like we could take on a global audience. This conference is a product of such an episode during late 2024 and now we’re far too vested emotionally to back down!

Visitors — you’re in for a treat! This will be a unique one day event (9 AM – late) with a stage program of invited plenaries representing various Nordic startups.  The speakers will be sharing both their growth journeys and, more importantly,
the technical challenges they are solving/have solved. We will also
leave room for 1-2 VCs to add some flavour to the programme

As always with WCBF events, there will be good food and plenty of time to mingle. At the end of the day there will be a networking dinner allowing the ideas born during the day to propagate and cross-pollinate all the way into the bright summer evening*.

* 13th of June, the day is expected to last 18 hours, with nautical
twilight between 23:25 and 02:59. No proper night will be observed.

Confirmd speakers from CATL (CN), Rivus (SE), Drev (SE), Ionworks (UK), Cling (SE), Altris (SE), Swedish Energy Agency, Compular (SE), Phasetree (DK), Cactos (FI), Energy Node (SE), Batemo (DE).

Investor jury

To slightly raise the heat, we’ve invited a jury of international and local VCs/Business Angles to judge the quality of your pitches and value proposal. Best talk will get a nice prize!  We want to stress that the event will be lighthearted and social so mainly see this as a fun opportunity, not a burden.

Venue & Food

We are collaborating with the local brewery “Spike” as a conference venue. This is a cozy and bright, open space, ideal for mingling.

Food will be catered from a neighboring South American café “Mariki” and will include both coffee, lunch and a conference dinner. Think fresh empanadas, Tiradito, and flapsteak with chimichurri. Not what you expected? Don’t worry! In a couple of weeks time all participants will be asked to provide info about food restrictions an allergies.

Accommodation and getting to the venue

We appreciate that some of you will have travelled across Sweden and Europe to get to Gothenburg. Fortunately, our city is not a megalopolis and access to most parts is quite easy. The best place to stay in order to reach the venue in a matter of minutes is somewhere close to the Gothenburg central station, which also happens to be a stop for the airport coaches. From here you can catch the following trams to the stop “Gamlestads Torg”:

4 (towards Angered), 6 (towards Kortedala) , 7 (towards Bergsjön)

8 (towards Angered) , 9 (towards Angered) , 11 (towards Bergsjön)

From Gamlestads Torg the venue is a 5-minute walk away.
